Beyond the Bar offers several ways to meet new people — from casual online social events to curated introductions and personalized matchmaking. Most people begin by joining one of our online speed connection events, designed to make meeting new people simple, comfortable, and time-efficient. All events take place online and can be joined from anywhere in South Africa.

PRICING

Event pricing varies depending on the specific event.
Prices are clearly displayed on each event listing before booking and may include:

♦ Standard tickets
♦ Early bird tickets (when available)

All prices are per event, and booking confirms your spot for that specific session.
All events must be booked and paid for in advance.

What Your Event Will Look Like:

  • 1.LOG IN

    You’ll log in (on your phone, tablet or computer) using the email address you booked with. We recommend joining 5–10 minutes early to ensure your camera and audio are working correctly.

  • 2.WELCOME MESSAGE

    Each event begins with a short welcome video, explaining how the session will run and what to expect. This helps everyone feel comfortable before the conversations begin.

  • 3.ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATIONS

    You’ll be matched into a series of short, one-on-one video conversations with different participants.

    There are no graded questions. Conversations are natural and fluid, giving you the freedom to connect in your own way.

  • 4.EVENT FLOW

    You’ll be automatically matched with all participants, rotating through 5 minute conversations.

    After the event, a short break allows you to choose whether you’d like to connect or not with the people you've met.

  • 5.CLOSING MESSAGE

    At the end of the event, a short thank-you video will wrap up the session and explain the next steps, including how matches and follow-ups work.

After The Event:

Participation does not require you to continue conversations after the event. Any follow-up or connection via the messenger app - where contact details may be exchanged - is entirely optional and only possible through mutual matching on the platform.
